判教

Division of the Buddha's teaching, e.g. that of Tiantai, into the five periods and eight teachings, that of Huayan into five teachings, etc.

判別教相。 佛教傳入中國後， 經中國學者， 各据己見， 將其分為若干時， 或若干類， 使發心研究佛教者， 較易探討了解， 名為判教。
